New in November

It’s never too early to start planning those Christmas lists!  So here are some oh-so-pretty books to start bugging Santa about!

1. Heartless by Marissa Meyer

heartless.jpgReleases: November 8
Age: Young Adult

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.

Origin story for the Queen of Hearts?  Yes, please!!  Though I doubt her love story will end very well…
Call it a hunch.

 2. Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, and Robin Wasserman

shadowhunter.jpgReleases: November 15
Age: Young Adult

Simon Lewis has been a human and a vampire, and now he is becoming a Shadowhunter. The events of City of Heavenly Fire left him stripped of his memories, and Simon isn’t sure who he is anymore. So when the Shadowhunter Academy reopens, Simon throws himself into this new world of demon-hunting, determined to find himself again. Whomever this new Simon might be.

Doesn’t Simon look so dashing on that cover? And  Cassandra Clare + Robin Wasserman = !!!!!! Honestly Simon has always been one of my favorite characters in the ‘verse, and I’m excited to see what his training is like!

 3. Dan and Phil Go Outside by Phil Lester and Dan Howelldan and phil go outside.png

Releases: November 3rd
Age: Middle Grade/Young Adult

Dan Howell and Phil Lester, avoiders of human contact and direct sunlight, actually went outside. Travelling around the world on tour, they have collected hundreds of exclusive, intimate and funny photos, as well as revealing and captivating side notes, to show the behind-the-scenes story of their adventure.

Okay, so really you’re only excited by this one if you’re one of the YouTube Nerds who can’t get enough of Dan and Phil.  Like me.  If you’re not familiar with Dan and Phil…well here’s a video to get you acquainted…

4. Bad Blood by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

bad blood.jpg Releases: November
Age: Young Adult
Series: 4 of ?

When Cassie Hobbes joined the FBI’s Naturals program, she had one goal: uncover the truth about her mother’s murder. But now, everything Cassie thought she knew about what happened that night has been called into question.
As Cassie and the team work to uncover the secrets of a group that has been killing in secret for generations, they find themselves racing a ticking clock.

So I’ve only read the first in this series , but TheDinoWhisperer has read all 3.  Both of us can’t get enough of Jennifer Lynn Barnes, and her series about teens hunting serial killers is wicked awesome.  I smell a binge-read coming on…

5. The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

the sun is also a star.jpgReleases: November 1
Age: Young Adult

Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica.
Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.

All right.  I’ll admit it.  I’m a sucker for a good love story.  And this one looks pretty good.  Plus I love that string art on the cover!

6. The Amateurs by Sara Shepard

the amateurs.jpgReleases: November 1
Age: Young Adult
Series: 1 of ?

As soon as Seneca Frazier sees the post on the Case Not Closed website about Helena Kelly, she’s hooked. Helena’s high-profile disappearance five years earlier is the one that originally got Seneca addicted to true crime. It’s the reason she’s a member of the site in the first place.
So when Maddy Wright, her best friend from the CNC site, invites Seneca to spend spring break in Connecticut looking into the cold case, she immediately packs her bag.

And here we have another crime novel I’m excited to read.  I’ll admit it: I’m never going to read Pretty Little Liars or watch the show.  But I did love Sara Shepard’s Perfectionists duology and I’d love to see her handle this story.

7. The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid

the diabolic.jpgReleases: November 1
Age: Young Adult

A Diabolic is ruthless. A Diabolic is powerful. A Diabolic has a single task: Kill in order to protect the person you’ve been created for.
Nemesis is a Diabolic, created to protect a galactic senator’s daughter, Sidonia. Nemesis is expected to give her life for Sidonia, and she would do so gladly. She would also take as many lives as necessary to keep Sidonia safe.
When Sidonia  is set to become hostage to the the power-mad Emperor, there is only one way for Nemesis to protect her. She must become her.

So, check out the wicked awesomeness of that cover!  Plus, humanoid teens designed to be your personal Secret Service agent.  And, I’m sensing some intergalactic court intrigue here.  things are about to get interesting…
