In No Particular Order

My Top 5 TBR in 2017

5. The Bronze Key by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

bronzeThis is the third installment in the Magisterium Series, and while it came out this past fall, I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. Since I’m working on a master’s program now that involves A LOT of reading, I’ll have to try to work it in to my studies somehow because not reading it isn’t an option.

4. Paper Towns by John Green

paper-townsI haven’t read any of John Green’s books yet. Seriously. None. I don’t really like to read books that are going to make me cry. BUT! I really like John Green as a person, and I like the work he does on YouTube with his brother, Hank. And everyone talks about how utterly amazing his books are, so I’m finally going to bite the bullet and read one. I still won’t read The Fault In Our Stars, though. Too sad. Just can’t do it.

3. The Robyn Hoodlum series by Kekla Magoon

This is a retelling of Robin Hood, but with a spunky twelve-year-old girl as the protagonist. Their world is slightly more technologically advanced than ours, too, but it’s paired with the old, nearly lost “moon lore.” I can’t wait to delve into this series since it seems super fun and full of mischief!

2. Unwind by Neal Shusterman

unwindFor years I’ve heard Bronto Incognito go on and on about this series. And on. I do like Neal Shusterman, and I haven’t been let down by any of his books so far, so I’m willing to give this one a shot too. It seems dark, disturbing, and utterly captivating. I’m game!

1. The Underneath by Kathi Appelt

the-underneathI recently read (and gushed about on YouTube) Keeper, by the same author. But this  book, a National Book Award finalist, is about an old dog on a chain helping a mama cat raise two kittens under a porch. He tries to teach the kittens not leave the safety of “the underneath,” or the dog’s abusive owner will get to them. This particular book breaks my “no books that make me cry” rule, or so I’ve heard, but I just can’t help it. Kathi Appelt’s books are amazing.

Have you read any of these?  Which one should I start with first???  Let me know in the comments below!
